The formation of the Simcoe-Muskoka Centre in April 1989 was spearheaded by Ken Davis. Following the aims of the RCCO, the Centre works to encourage excellence in the performance of organ and choral music, promotion of the organ in its historic and evolving roles, and providing a forum for mutual support, inspiration, education, and certification of members. These aims have been achieved through workshops, presentations, panel discussions, performances and social events.
The Centre has three Organ Series in Gravenhurst, Orillia and Barrie: “The August Organ” Summer Concert Series at Trinity United Church, Gravenhurst each Thursday in August, 12:15-12:45pm, free; Wednesday Noon-Hour Organ Recitals (summer) at St James’ Anglican Church, Orillia, free; and the Barrie Concert Association presents a monthly organ recital the 3rd Wednesday of every month all year at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Barrie, $10/students get in free.
