The Royal Canadian College of Organists supports, promotes and
celebrates the organ and its music across Canada. Donations are an
important source of revenue for this work and ongoing support from our
members and benefactors is critical to our success. Please consider
making a donation today. Your gift helps us to provide more
opportunities and engage more people in the organ and its music.
Funding the Future is our annual fundraising campaign to support vital national programming that creates opportunities for organ learners and strengthens support for the organ community.
The ongoing success of existing programs and development of new initiatives would not be possible without your support. This year, our fundraising goal is $30,000. If you are able, please donate today. Each and every donation is deeply appreciated.
Your gift will directly benefit:
LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
Summer Organ Academy: providing formative training for the next generation of organists. This past summer marked the 12th year of the program, with a full complement of 18 students meeting in Toronto for an exciting week of lessons, masterclasses and performance opportunities. The 2025 Academy introduced livestreaming of masterclasses and lectures for those unable to attend in person, broadening reach and accessibility. The program was also the subject of a feature article in Ludwig Van.
- Virtual Organ Academy: a new resource presenting leading organists and experts in their fields in free one-hour online sessions. Now available on YouTube, as well as our new Discord communications platform.
- Organist Launchpad: a collection of 26 professional development videos available for free online, covering a wide variety of topics from pedal technique and improvisation to creative concert programming and managing performance anxiety.
- Beginning Organist Scholarships: awarded to promising organ students aged 35 and under. Every year, this program provides the funding for organ lessons for nine beginning organists.
OrgelkidsCAN: a unique educational outreach program developed to introduce a new generation to the joy of music and the wonders of the pipe organ. This program is provided entirely free of charge for use in schools, musical workshops and other community events.
- Examinations and Certification: offering internationally-recognized certification for professional organists, as well as scholarships and prizes awarded annually for outstanding achievement.
COMMUNITY BUILDING
Organ Festival Canada: our national festival and conference, is the main meeting place for Canada’s organ music community and our most important outreach initiative to engage with the public. Organ Festival Canada 2025, held in Kitchener-Waterloo-Guelph, brought together 130 registrants from across the country, as well as 1,200 concert attendees for 8 paid public concerts, 7 free public performances, 15 professional development workshops, as well as an outdoor music walk with multiple performers and local vendor food trucks.
- Organ Canada: Canada's only national organ music journal, featuring articles, news and commentary, as well as reviews of Canadian-produced events, recordings compositions and publications.
- Communications: raising awareness of the organ and its music through our website (including the concert calendar, job board, and buy & sell forum), monthly e-newsletter Continuo, YouTube channel, and growing community of followers on Facebook, Instagram and Discord.
SUPPORTING EMERGING ARTISTS AND NEW WORKS
National Organ Competition: showcasing and promoting Canada’s top emerging organists. This year, we welcomed six amazing young musicians to the semi-final round, with Maria Gajraj (1st place), Qing Xu (2nd place) and Isaac Howie (3rd place) receiving top prizes in the finals.
- Rachel Laurin Composition Competition: supporting the creation of organ repertoire by emerging composers. The inaugural 2025 competition received 29 submissions by 23 composers from around the world, including Australia, Canada, Germany, Hungary, Italy and the United States.
- Music Publications: publishing new works by composers from across Canada and beyond. This past year saw the addition of six new pieces to the online catalogue, including the winning entries of the Rachel Laurin Composition Competition.
