DIRECTOR OF MUSIC 

GRACE ANGLICAN CHURCH, MILTON, ONTARIO, CANADA 

JOB DESCRIPTION-DIRECTOR OF MUSIC (PART TIME) 

Grace Anglican Church is seeking a talented and creative Director of Music who will lead and nurture a vibrant music ministry at public worship services. The candidate should be a team player with strong interpersonal skills, working collaboratively with the Rector, volunteer music team and other church staff. 

The candidate will be proficient in organ, piano performance and directing a chancel choir and will also accompany the choir and the congregation in various styles of music to engage our diverse community. 

Key Responsibilities 
Under the supervision of the Rector. 

• 10:00AM Sunday Eucharist plus offertory hymn at 8:00AM Sunday Eucharist 
• Weekly Thursday evening choir rehearsals from Labour Day until Pentecost. 
• Music selection in consultation with the rector. 
• Additional Services: 

o Christmas Eve Eucharist as determined by rector, typically 5:00PM, 7:30PM and 11:00PM 
o During Holy Week: 
o Ash Wednesday evening Eucharist 
o Maundy Thursday evening Eucharist, Good Friday morning service, Holy Saturday early evening 
o Easter Vigil 
o Available for weddings and funerals 

Qualifications 
1. Proven skill as an organist and pianist 
2. A diploma or degree in music from college, university or conservatory would be an asset 
3. Knowledge of traditional and contemporary Christian hymnody 
4. Experience in choral conducting – ability to work with singers of all skill levels 
5. Strong organizational and communication skills 
6. Knowledge of Anglican liturgical tradition would be a strong asset 

Employment Details 

• Part-time position (13-14 hours per week): hours and remuneration to be discussed. 
• Location: Grace Anglican Church, 317 Main Street East, Milton, Ontario, L9T 1P5. 
• Start date: August/September 2026. 
• Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
