Clifford McAree BMus, LRCT, FCCO, FRCCO (hon) was a well known organist in Toronto but also throughout Canada. He was appointed an examiner for the RCMT in 1939, having won the gold medal in that year. He earned his FCCO in 1947, a degree which has now become an FRCCO. A long serving organist of Eglinton United Church, now Eglinton-St. George’s United Church, he was President of the Toronto Centre of the RCCO from 1955-1957. In 1965 Mr. McAree became National President of the Royal Canadian College of Organists. Upon the occasion of Mr. McAree’s 80th birthday, a large sum of money was collected by friends and donated as a scholarship to the RCCO. The present scholarship, initiated in 2015, is a renewal of that scholarship and awarded to the RCCO by his daughter, Ms. Janet Boyne, and son, Mr. David McAree from the estate of Clifford McAree.
Purpose: To allow a student to attend an Organ Festival of the RCCO. This scholarship will give the chosen student a chance to attend workshops, listen to exceptional organ performances, and start the essential process of networking with other organists. It may be used for any expenses associated with attending such an event (e.g. registration fee, transportation, meals, accommodation, etc.) The scholarship of $1000 will be awarded annually.
Qualifying Criteria:

En 1939, après avoir obtenu la médaille d'or du Royal Conservatory of Music de Toronto, il y fut engagé comme examinateur. Il obtint son FCCO en 1947, diplôme devenu aujourd'hui FCRCO. Longtemps organiste de l'Eglinton United Church, aujourd'hui Eglinton-St. George’s United Church, il fut président du centre CRCO de Toronto de 1955 à 1957. En 1965, McAree devint président national du Collège royal canadien des organistes. À l'occasion du 80e anniversaire de McAree, une somme conséquente a été récoltée par ses amis et donnée sous forme de bourse au CRCO. La bourse actuelle, fondée en 2015, est un renouvellement de cette bourse et est accordée au CRCO par sa fille, Janet Boyne et son fils, David MacAree sur les biens de Clifford MacAree. Objectif : permettre à un élève de participer à un festival d'orgue du CRCO. Cette bourse donnera à l'élève choisi la possibilité de participer à des ateliers, d'entendre des concerts d'orgue exceptionnels et de commencer à créer un réseau vital avec d'autres organistes. Elle peut être utilisée pour couvrir toute dépense occasionnée par la participation à un événement de ce type (par exemple frais d'inscription, transport, repas, gîte, etc.)La bourse, d'un montant de $1000 sera octroyée chaque année.
