RCCO Vancouver Centre seeks masterclass participants

29 March 2022 11:18 AM | Anonymous member (Administrator)

The RCCO Vancouver Centre has arranged a masterclass with Pacific Baroque Orchestra's Orchestra's Alexander Weimann on Saturday, May 7, at 11:00 am, and they are looking for participants! The masterclass will be on West Vancouver United Church's unique, Baroque-style organ built by Martin Pasi. There will be a brief opportunity for participants to try registrations on the organ an hour before the masterclass, from 10-11 am.

If you are interested in playing, please send an email with the name of your piece no later than Friday, April 22 to Angelique at angelique_po@hotmail.com. A maximum of 4 participants are sought, on a first-come-first-serve basis, though preference will be given to current RCCO Vancouver members. Baroque pieces are preferred for this masterclass, though organists of all skill levels are encouraged to participate. The masterclass will be open to anyone who would like to observe.

Alexander Weimann is an accomplished organist and harpsichordist living and working in Vancouver, who has a highly-regarded international career as both a soloist and conductor. Here in Vancouver, he is well-known as being the Music Director of the Pacific Baroque Orchestra, Sessional Lecturer of Conducting and Harpsichord at the University of British Columbia, and Director of the Baroque Orchestra Mentorship Programme. You can read more about him on his website: https://alexanderweimann.com/.
